Flavia is a Rwandan Architect and urban designer with experience within Rwanda, in East Africa, and the USA. She is a Registered Architect in Rwanda, and holds a Master of Science in Urban Design. Her experience includes architectural and urban design practice, the facilitation of participatory planning and design workshops, and support to policy initiatives such as the Kigali Urban Water Resilience Initiative and the Rwanda National Urbanisation Policy.Â
She has been the recipient of several prestigious international awards. In 2012, she took third prize in the Archigineer Africa competition for a project targeting of the elaboration of a suitable, sustainable housing model for Kigali’s wetlands, focused on the regeneration and upgrading of Rwampala wetlands. In 2014, together with Costanza and Garret, she was part of the Bantu team receiving an honourable mention at Holcim Awards for Sustainable Construction (Africa & Middle East Region), awarded for a project based on participatory upgrading strategies elaborated for Kora, Nyarugenge District. In 2017, Flavia was awaded a Fulbright Scholarship to study in the US, where she also worked for two years before returning to Rwanda.
